    Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s former bands the Mars Volta and At the Drive-In are the sort of acts that fans get tattoos of. But unlike the permanent nature of inking yourself, he’s moved on to another project with his new four-piece  Bosnian Rainbows. On the band’s debut (out next month), we find Rodriguez-Lopez exploring a punchy goth sound with Le Butcherettes frontwoman Teri Gender-Bender, drummer Deantoni Parks and keyboardist Nicci Kasper of Dark Angels. Hive recently caught up with Rodriguez-Lopez before the release of their debut album to talk about the “virgin” experience of playing with a new band, why the At the Drive-In reunion was emotionally tough and the Mars Volta breaking up over Twitter.

    In between his work in bands including The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In, Omar Rodríguez-López has been a prolific solo artist. And not just prolific, over 50 albums in 20 years prolific.

    Amor de Frances is a new vinyl box set collecting Rodríguez-López’s extensive solo work and includes a total of 57 albums that have been recorded over the past two decades, two of which are previously unreleased. 

    The package costs $1,599 and will be limited to just 500 copies. It’ll be released on December 4, and preorders open on October 30.

    If that’s all a little rich for your blood, the 57 albums will also be available to purchase individually on vinyl.

    The Mars Volta, meanwhile, put out a new, self-titled album in 2022, marking their first studio effort in 10 years. They released a reworked version of the record, dubbed Qué Dios Te Maldiga Mí Corazón, in April.
